Tinker Cliffs

Starting mile 715.6
I started hiking by 6:30 this morning because I really want to get to town. Also, it is supposed to rain a little after 2 pm this afternoon. I had about 5 miles to Tinker Cliffs and then another 11 miles to town. The ridge walk to the cliffs went quickly and I got there by 8:15 am. I didn’t stick around long because it was windy, I almost lost my hat over the cliff.
After leaving a windy mile down to the shelter, I was able to refill my water. I ate the last of my food and then started down the trail. I spent the rest of the morning hiking primarily downhill with a handful of climbs before I made it to town.
Once in town I headed to a diner for a burger and fries. This is probably my favorite meal when I get into town. While I was eating it poured down rain. I hung out at the diner for a little before I could go check in at my hotel. I grabbed a shower before taking a nap. While I was sleeping it poured down again. I’m sure glad I was inside for that.
I’ll take care of my town chores tomorrow on my day off. I did 15.6 miles today with about 2,300 feet of elevation gain. I’m looking forward to not doing anything tomorrow.
