Starting mile 69.3
Today started with a nice breakfast at the Green Dragon hostel and a shuttle back to the trail. We got there and the five of us jumped out of the car, threw our packs on and headed up the trail. Going in we knew this day was going to be brutal, and it didn’t disappoint. We had 4,500 ft of elevation gain in in 12.5 miles. This is definitely the hardest day so far.
There is one highlight that we passed all day and that is we made it out of Georgia. I’m now in North Carolina. Other than that, it was a miserable day with multiple climbs of 100 ft gain per 0.1 miles. Then we would go down a little bit before starting the next grueling climb.
To top off this wonderful day I found out that the free shuttle I was going to take into Franklin in a couple of days doesn’t run on the weekends, so I’ll have to figure something else out to resupply on Saturday.
Well, I’m off to bed. When I wake up I should have a much happier day ahead of me.
